Solmaz Salimi

I am currently engaged as a postdoctoral researcher with the Software and System Security (S3) Group at EURECOM. During my doctoral journey at Sharif University of Technology, I was very fortunate to have Mehdi Kharrazi as my advisor. In addition, my role as a visiting researcher at EPFL's HexHive group allowed me the honor of working under Mathias Payer, where I contributed to projects aimed at regression bug detection in the Linux Kernel and software fuzzing techniques.

My research revolves around leveraging static and dynamic program analysis techniques to strengthen the security of complex software systems. I have a particular interest in securing inter-layer communications, refining interactions with hardware interfaces and firmware layers across diverse architectures.

Currently, I have the privilege of collaborating with Aurélien Francillon at S3 to tackle the security challenges presented by advanced embedded devices. This collaboration has significantly broadened my exploration into system-level security, providing valuable insights into the complex interplay between software and hardware components.

Beyond my research, I have a strong passion for Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions. I’ve been involved in establishing the ASIS CTF competition, which I’ve been organizing since 2012. Additionally, I’ve co-organized CryptoCTF since 2019, and Parcham CTF in 2020, in collaboration with S4Lab at Sharif University
